Center responds to SC on Oxygen Crisis, says 700 MT oxygen demand is not right

During the hearing on the supply of oxygen in the Supreme Court on Thursday, the central government said that Delhi’s demand for 700 metric tons does not seem right, because it will harm other states.

New Delhi: Hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Thursday regarding the oxygen shortage in the hospitals of the national capital Delhi. During this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on behalf of the Central Government said that Delhi’s demand for 700 MT does not seem right.




‘Delhi’s demand for 700 MT is not right’
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, ‘Delhi’s demand for 700 MT does not seem right. This will cause damage to other states. On the other hand, Sumita Dawra, Additional Secretary, Nodal Agency for Oxygen Supply, said, “The major part of the 490 metric ton which was given to Delhi earlier came from Kashipur. Due to this, there was a lack of oxygen in some parts of Uttarakhand.

‘Storage capacity of 478 metric tons of oxygen in hospitals’

Sumita Dawra, Additional Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health, said, ‘The current allocation of 460 MT is being made a part. 140 MT will be operated from 9 May. 53 percent of the total cryogenic tanker has been installed for Delhi supply only. 6 containers have also been installed. In the next few days, their number will be 24. Cantaners filled in and going back to the plant will also be included. The 56 main hospitals have a storage capacity of 478 metric tonnes of oxygen.

Probably some problem in Delhi’s supply system: SG
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, ‘Oxygen audit is needed, because supplies are being made but not reaching the people. Let the supply reach Delhi and ask a responsible officer of Delhi to give details of it. He said, ‘The total storage capacity in hospitals in Delhi is close to 400 metric tons. We are worried that we are also giving 300 metric tons of other states to Delhi. Yet it is not reaching the needy people of Delhi. Perhaps there is some problem in the supply system of Delhi. It should be seen.

Better preparation will be able to deal with the third wave: Supreme Court
Justice DY Chandrachud said, ‘People undergoing treatment at home also need oxygen, so the formula for estimating the need for oxygen is wrong. Yet it is true that we have to think for the whole country. If we prepare today, we will be able to deal better with the third phase of Kovid.

Children should be thought of for vaccination: court
During the hearing, Justice DY Chandrachud said, ‘It is a matter of concern that scientists are talking about the third wave of corona virus and there is a possibility of children being affected in it. Therefore, vaccination campaign should be thought of for children. He further said, ‘How to deal with the third wave, it has to be prepared from now. If the effect of corona on children increases, how will they handle it? Because children cannot go to the hospital on their own.

Delhi gets 700 metric tons of oxygen every day: SC
Explain that the Supreme Court had sought a reply from the Center on Wednesday and the court had directed the government to supply 700 metric tons of oxygen to Delhi by Monday, no less than it should be supplied. Along with this, the Supreme Court had asked the Center to tell the plan that from where and how the supply of 700 metric tons of oxygen will be ensured.
