E-Challan From Toll Plaza: Millions of vehicles pass through toll plazas every day in the country. Traveling on expressways and highways has become faster and more convenient than before. However, with this, the strictness of the rules has also increased. Now, if your vehicle documents are incomplete or not updated, you can be issued a challan at the toll plaza itself.

The e-detection system will instantly check vehicle information, and if any discrepancy is found, an e-challan will be sent directly. This means that traveling without valid insurance, pollution, or fitness certificates can prove costly. Therefore, be sure to check your vehicle documents before setting out on a journey.

E-Detection System Launched on Expressways

The e-Detection system is being implemented on major expressways in Uttar Pradesh. High-resolution cameras have been installed at toll plazas, scanning the number plates of passing vehicles. Vehicle information will then be matched with a central database. The validity of insurance, pollution certificates, fitness certificates, and permits will be instantly checked.

If any document is found to be expired or records are incomplete, the system will automatically generate an e-challan. This process will be fully automated, eliminating the need for manual intervention. The program is being implemented initially on major routes and will then be expanded to other highways.

Which vehicles will be fined?

If a vehicle’s insurance is invalid, it could result in a fine of up to ₹2,000. A lack of a pollution certificate could result in a fine of up to ₹10,000. Lack of a fitness certificate will result in a penalty of ₹5,000 for the first offense, and up to ₹10,000 for a second offense.

Driving without a valid permit also attracts a fine of approximately ₹10,000. This amount is determined by the rules and will be credited directly to the vehicle owner. The challan information will be sent to a mobile number, so it’s important to keep your registration details updated.

How to avoid trouble?

If you regularly use the expressway, first check all your vehicle documents online. Check the expiry dates for insurance, pollution, and fitness certificates and renew them in time. Many people think that simply crossing the toll will suffice. But with digital monitoring, this won’t be the case.

The e-detection system will immediately detect any discrepancies. Keep in mind that once a challan is issued, it must be paid, and delays may result in additional charges. It’s best to have complete documentation before traveling to avoid any problems along the way.
