Chhattisgarh: 95.38% farmers sold paddy on MSP, break the record of last 20 years

In Chhattisgarh, 95.38 percent of the total registered farmers have sold paddy in the year 2020-21. The reason for this is being told about the farmer friendly policies implemented in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and better system of paddy procurement on support price. Out of 21,52,475 farmers, 20,53,483 have sold their paddy this year, which is the highest in the last 20 years. The number of farmers selling paddy at minimum support price (MSP), total registered acres, area of ​​paddy sales, percentage of farmers selling paddy and the total amount of paddy sold has increased significantly since the formation of the new government in Chhattisgarh.




Chhattisgarh has created a new record for purchasing more than 92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the year 2020-21. Compared to the last six years, the percentage of farmers selling paddy in 2020-21 is 95.38 percent, which is the highest ever since the formation of the state. Despite adverse conditions in the state, the state government made adequate arrangements for the purchase of paddy. Paddy procurement has been done peacefully and smoothly in the state.

Out of 13,17,583 registered farmers in the year 2015-16, 11,05,556 farmers have sold their paddy, which was 83.9 percent of the total registered farmers. Similarly, out of 14,51,088 farmers registered in 2016-17, 13,27,944 farmers sold paddy, i.e. 91.5 percent. Out of 15,77,332 farmers registered in the year 2017-18, 12,06,264 farmers sold paddy, which is 76.4 percent. Out of 16,96,765 farmers registered in the year 2018-19, 15,71,414 farmers sold paddy, which is 92.6 percent. Similarly, out of 19,55,544 farmers registered in the year 2019-20, 18,38,593 farmers have sold their paddy, which is 94.02 percent.




There has been a significant increase in the area of ​​farming in the last two years in the state. Due to the farmer-friendly policies of the state government, the area of ​​registration of paddy cultivation has exceeded 27 lakh hectares and the number of registered farmers has reached 21,52,000. There has also been a significant increase in the amount of area registered for paddy procurement in the last 6 years and the amount of paddy acquired. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took the historic decision to waive farmer loans and irrigation tax as soon as he came to power, encouraging people to return to agricultural practices.

Under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers’ enthusiasm was enhanced by providing agricultural input assistance of Rs 10 thousand per acre. Under this scheme, farmers of the state are being provided direct assistance of Rs. 5750 crores Rs. The amount of three installments has also been transferred to the farmers’ accounts and the fourth installment amount will be transferred by March.
