On Thursday, 43,183 new cases were reported in the most affected state of Corona. New cases registered from this state are responsible for 53 percent of the total cases reported from the country. Maharashtra alone accounts for 53 per cent of the total corona cases.
8,646 new cases of corona in Maharashtra
At the same time, 8,646 new cases of corona were registered from Mumbai, which is the highest since March 28 (6,933). In Maharashtra, 249 people died of corona on 1 April, which is the highest (256) since 5 November. More than 200 patients died of corona in the state for the second consecutive day.
60 dead in last 24 hours in Punjab
Apart from Maharashtra, there has been an upsurge in corona cases in two other states. These states are Punjab and Chhattisgarh. In Punjab, 3,187 cases of corona were reported on Thursday. While 4,617 cases were registered in Chhattisgarh. 4,234 new cases of corona have been reported from Karnataka. Punjab has the highest number of deaths after Maharashtra. In Punjab, 60 people died due to infection in the last 24 hours.
