Cyclone Ditwa Alert: People in these 4 states should be cautious, heavy rain warning, know the weather conditions

Cyclone Alert: The cyclonic storm will move towards northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 24 hours. Its impact will extend to the northern districts and northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, as well as the Cauvery Delta and Andhra Pradesh.

Cyclone Ditwah: After the weakening of Cyclone Senyar, another new storm is making landfall in the Bay of Bengal. This is Cyclone Ditwah. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has warned the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry etc. to remain alert. Due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal turning into a cyclonic storm on Thursday, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the northern and other parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh for the next 2-3 days. In such a situation, the people living here also need to be cautious.

According to Meteorological Department officials, the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast was centered about 150 km east-northeast of Hambantota (Sri Lanka) and 190 km east-southeast of Batticaloa (Sri Lanka) by noon. It will then intensify into a cyclonic storm and move north-northwestward. It will move towards northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh coast over the next 24 hours. Under its influence, heavy rainfall is expected over the next two to three days in the northern districts and northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, as well as the Cauvery Delta and some southern districts.

The Meteorological Department has already issued an orange alert for Chennai and its neighboring districts, such as Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall of up to 20 cm over the next two days. Meanwhile, alert 4 has been issued for Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ennore, Kattupalli, Puducherry and Karaikal ports. Alert 3 has also been issued for Pamban and Tuticorin ports.

Heavy rain warning issued in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority on Thursday stated that the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast has intensified into a cyclone, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema districts. According to the APSDMA, the weather system is moving north-northwestward and is expected to strengthen over the next 12 hours. “Cyclone Ditvaah has formed and is intensifying. Heavy rain and strong winds are likely to occur in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh,” the APSDMA said in a release. The system is expected to continue moving towards the southwest Bay of Bengal, northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining South Coastal Andhra Pradesh between the evening of November 29th and the morning of November 30th. Heavy rain is expected in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema for three days starting Saturday due to the cyclone’s impact. It said heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Sri Sathya Sai districts for two days from November 29.
