Strong winds and heavy rain are expected in coastal areas. Chennai Airport has canceled 54 flights, and rail services are also affected. The administration has made preparations to deal with the emergency.

In view of Cyclone Ditwah, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. The officials have appealed to the people to avoid going near the sea.
Actually, the threat of Cyclone Ditwah is looming large in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Cyclone Ditwah is about to reach with strong winds towards the sea and continuous rain. Red alert has been issued in many districts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.
The situation in Puducherry is worsening due to the impact of Cyclone Ditwah in the Bay of Bengal. The impact of Cyclone Ditwah is being felt rapidly in the coastal areas of Puducherry.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Cuddalore due to Cyclone Ditwah. In view of the threat of Ditwah, 28 DRF and SDRF teams are deployed in Tamil Nadu. Rescue teams are fully prepared in coastal areas. Five of the 6th BN NDRF, equipped with FWR and CSSR assets, have been deployed from Vadodara to Chennai.
Latest Update from the Meteorological Department
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated, “Cyclonic Storm Ditwaha remains over the southwest Bay of Bengal and off the Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coasts. Over the past six hours, it has moved northward at a speed of about 5 kilometers per hour and was centered over the southwest Bay of Bengal and off the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts at 11:30 pm on November 29th.
It was located 90 kilometers east-northeast of Vedanta, 90 kilometers east-southeast of Karaikal, 130 kilometers north-northeast of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, 160 kilometers south-southeast of Puducherry, and 260 kilometers south of Chennai. According to the Meteorological Department, the storm will continue to move northward, parallel to the coasts of north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, for the next 24 hours, and will remain at a distance of 50 and 25 kilometers from the coast between the morning and evening of November 30th.”
Flights Cancelled
Travelers are facing inconvenience due to Cyclone Ditwah. Chennai Airport has canceled 54 flights. Cyclone Ditwah has also affected rail services in Tamil Nadu. In view of the storm’s threat, Southern Railway has announced some changes to its train timetables. The Railways has also activated a war room to ensure passenger safety in case of an emergency.
