Cyclone Warning: According to a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department, the depression is expected to move westward and northwestward, intensify into a deep depression by October 26, and further into a cyclonic storm by October 27 over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. It is then expected to move northwestward toward the Andhra Pradesh coast over the next 48 hours.

Heavy Rains Expected in These Areas Due to the Cyclone

According to the Meteorological Department, the depression is expected to cause heavy rainfall at isolated places in Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu, and in Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected at one or two locations in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal region during the next 24 hours.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until October 27.

In a warning issued to fishermen, the Meteorological Department stated that due to a low pressure area, winds of 35 to 45 kilometers per hour and gusting to 55 kilometers per hour are likely along the Tamil Nadu coast, the southern Andhra Pradesh coast, the Gulf of Mannar, and the Comorin region. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea between October 25 and 27. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard stated that it has initiated extensive outreach to sailors and fishermen at sea and urged them to return to the nearest port. The Coast Guard stated that Indian Coast Guard ships and aircraft at sea, as well as its radar stations on the coast, are alerting fishermen to exercise caution and requesting fishing vessels to return to the nearest port as soon as possible for safety.
