According to Moneycontrol, this increase will be applicable from 1 July 2025, that is, employees will also get the outstanding money from July till now. Also, the process of starting the 8th Pay Commission is also expected to speed up. This news is going to be a relief for lakhs of employees and pensioners.
Expectation of salary and pension
The 7th Pay Commission is ending on 31 December 2025. Because of this, now everyone’s eyes are on the 8th Pay Commission. About 50 lakh central employees and 62 lakh pensioners in the country are expecting better salary and pension from this new commission. The government had announced the formation of the 8th Pay Commission in January 2025, but its chairman has not been appointed yet. Due to this the process is getting delayed. Nevertheless, it is believed that now the government will take quick steps in this direction.
Dearness allowance is reviewed every six months
The salary of a government job is not limited to just the basic salary. It includes many allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA). Nowadays these allowances make up almost half of the salary. That is, if someone’s salary increases, then his benefit increases further due to these allowances.
Dearness allowance is reviewed every six months. This review is done on the basis of inflation figures, i.e. CPI (Consumer Price Index). The review of July 2025 has been done, but the government has not made any official announcement yet.
A big announcement can be made before August 15
According to media reports, a big announcement of increase in DA can be made before August 15. It is expected that DA can increase by 3 to 4 percent. If this happens, then the salary of the employees will increase significantly.
The real increase in salary is due to the fitment factor. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57. Now there are reports that in the 8th Pay Commission, it can be between 1.83 to 2.46. For example, if an employee’s basic salary is Rs 18,000 and a fitment factor of 2.46 is applied, then his salary can go up to Rs 44,280. That is, there will be a big jump in the salary. Pensioners will also benefit from this.
Employees and pensioners are now eagerly waiting for the next announcement of the government. If the DA increases and the 8th Pay Commission starts soon, it will be a big relief for lakhs of people.
