DA Hike 2026: If you are also a central government employee and are waiting for a salary hike, then there is a big update for you. According to information received from sources, central government employees and pensioners may get good news before Holi next month. A 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) is expected.
After the release of AICPI-IW (All India Consumer Price Index – Industrial Workers) data for December 2025 by the Labor Bureau, it is estimated that DA may increase from 58% to 60% from January 2026. However, the final announcement will be made by the government in March.

There’s also some relief for pensioners. Along with DA, DR will also receive a 2% increase. This means pensioners will also receive an additional amount to protect them from the effects of inflation. How many times does DA increase in a year?
DA is provided to offset the effects of inflation. The government announces DA increases twice a year, in January and July. This applies to basic pay, and each increase increases an employee’s total salary.
