Delhi government will give subsidy of Rs 5,500 on buying e-cycles, first 10 thousand buyers will benefit

The Delhi government has also approved subsidy on the purchase of ‘heavy duty cargo e-cycles’ and ‘e-carts’ for commercial use.

E-cycles: To promote the use of electric vehicles, the Delhi government has announced a subsidy to the buyers of e-cycles in the city. Along with this, the government has also approved subsidy on the purchase of ‘Heavy Duty Cargo E-cycle’ and ‘E-Cart’ for commercial use. The Delhi government on Thursday announced that it will give a subsidy of Rs 5,500 to the first 10,000 buyers of e-cycles. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said that the first 1,000 buyers of passenger e-cycles will also be given an additional subsidy of Rs 2,000 under the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. He claimed that Delhi has become the first state government in the country to give subsidy in the e-cycle segment.

How much subsidy will be given on heavy duty cargo e-cycle and e-cart?

Gehlot said that the Delhi cabinet has also approved subsidy on the purchase of ‘heavy duty cargo e-cycles’ and ‘e-carts’ for commercial use. A subsidy of Rs 15,000 each will be given to the first 5,000 buyers of a cargo (cargo) e-cycle. He said that earlier subsidy was provided to individual buyers of e-carts, but now a subsidy of Rs 30,000 will be provided to the company or corporate houses who buy these vehicles. However, this scheme is only for the residents of Delhi. He said that there are 45,900 e-vehicles in Delhi at present, out of which 36 per cent vehicles are two-wheelers. Gehlot said the residents of Delhi would be eligible for the subsidy scheme, which would be linked with Aadhaar. He said that all the members of the family having Aadhaar card will be able to get the subsidy.

Arvind Kejriwal congratulates Delhiites

On this decision of the government, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the e-cycle will help the people living here to reduce the use of polluting vehicles. Kejriwal tweeted, “Congratulations Delhi! Today we are taking another important step in the fight against pollution. He further said that the highly successful e-vehicle subsidy policy of the Delhi government is being extended today with subsidy for electric cycles. E-cycle will help Delhiites to reduce the use of polluting vehicles.
