Delhi Pollution: Delhi’s Environment Minister says that two items included in the restrictions imposed under GRAP-4 will now be permanently banned in the capital. Find out what the government’s decision is.
Delhi Pollution: Delhi is grappling with pollution. A thick layer of smog refuses to lift. The situation is so dire that the AQI in many areas of the capital has surpassed 400. In response to the pollution crisis, the Delhi government has taken a significant decision. Delhi’s Environment Minister has stated that two items will now be permanently banned in the capital.
Delhi Government’s Major Decision
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, speaking to the media, said that from now on, two of the restrictions under GRAP-4 have been made permanent. The first is the PUCC. You won’t get petrol anywhere without a PUCC certificate. Vehicles from outside Delhi that are less than Bharat Stage VI (BS6) will also be banned from entering Delhi.
Delhi’s weather could deteriorate again
Sirsa further stated that the weather is expected to deteriorate. A Western Disturbance could cause another inclement weather, so monitoring is underway. The government is working to ensure that the people of Delhi do not face such challenges again.
Delhi Government Takes Strict Action on Rising Pollution
The Delhi government has taken this decision in light of the increasing pollution during the winter season. The people of Delhi-NCR are suffering due to the pollution. The toxic air has become difficult for them to breathe. Despite the passage of time, the toxicity in the air shows no signs of decreasing; instead, it is increasing with each passing day. This has forced the Delhi government to take a major decision.
Fuel will no longer be available at petrol pumps without a pollution certificate
According to the Delhi government, vehicles without a PUCC certificate will not be able to get fuel. A pollution certificate will be required for petrol and diesel. This step is being taken as a precaution to curb pollution.
Entry of vehicles below BS6 from outside Delhi banned
Now, all petrol and diesel vehicles below BS6 standards from outside Delhi will be banned from entering Delhi. Such vehicles will not be allowed entry into Delhi. The government has permanently banned the entry of vehicles below BS6 standards into Delhi. This step has been taken as a precaution to control pollution.
