New Delhi: The national capital Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday. This temperature is 1.2 degrees above the season’s normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the weather department, a cold wave may occur in some areas of Delhi between January 3 and 6. A cold wave is declared when the minimum temperature drops 4.5 to 6.5 degrees below normal.
According to IMD data, the minimum temperature in Safdarjung was 8.1 degrees Celsius. Palam recorded 7.9 degrees Celsius, which is 0.9 degrees above normal. Lodhi Road recorded 8 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees above normal.
The Ridge area recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, which is 1.3 degrees above normal. Ayanagar recorded a minimum temperature of 6.9 degrees Celsius, which is 0.1 degrees below normal.
The humidity level in Delhi was recorded at 95 percent at 9 am. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am was 240, which falls in the ‘poor’ category.
According to the AQI, air quality between 0 to 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and air between 401 to 500 is considered ‘severe’.
