Diwali Bonus: Big news for central employees before Diwali, 60 days bonus announced

Let us tell you that this step of the government not only recognizes the hard work of the employees but also provides them financial relief during the festive season.

Diwali Gifts: Ahead of Diwali, the central government has announced a significant gift for its employees. The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, issued an official order announcing a productivity-linked bonus for the financial year 2024-25. According to the order, postal employees will receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days’ salary. This government move recognizes employees’ hard work and provides them financial relief during the festive season.

Which employees will receive this bonus?

According to the Postal Department’s order, this bonus will be given to the following categories of employees:

1. Regular employees—Group C, Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and non-gazetted Group B employees.

2. Gramin Dak Sevaks—those who are regularly employed.

3. Temporary and full-time casual employees.

Additionally, employees who retired, resigned, or went on deputation after March 31, 2025, will also be eligible for this bonus. The order states that productivity-linked bonuses will be payable to all such employees as per the relevant provisions.

How will the bonus be calculated?

The Postal Department has also provided a clear formula for calculating the bonus. For regular employees:

Bonus = (Average Salary × 60 days ÷ 30.4). However, the maximum salary limit for calculating the bonus has been set at ₹7,000 per month.

For Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) –

The bonus will be determined based on their Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) and dearness allowance.

For temporary or full-time casual workers –

They will be given an ad-hoc bonus based on their estimated salary of ₹1,200.

Employees leaving service will also benefit

The order also states that employees who retire, resign, or are transferred from the department after March 31, 2025, will also be given the bonus on a pro-rata basis.
