DL Rules: Be it a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler, if you drive it without a driving license, the traffic police will issue a challan to you. In such a case, the traffic police can charge you a fine of up to Rs 5,000. But there are some vehicles for which you do not need a DL to drive. If you drive them without a DL and even pass in front of the traffic police, they will not say anything to you. Know why?
What kind of vehicles can be driven without a DL?
Actually, there are some electric vehicles which do not require a driving license to drive. Actually, the government is encouraging the adoption of EV vehicles in the country. Under this, some rules have been made regarding electric vehicles. However, it is not that you can drive any EV without a license. There are some conditions attached to driving without a driving license.
This is the rule of MORTH
According to the rules of MORTH i.e. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, electric vehicles whose top speed is 25 km per hour do not require any kind of driving license and registration to drive them on the road.
Vehicles with a maximum speed of 25 kmph
This simply means that if you buy an EV with a maximum top speed of 25 kmph, you will never have to pay a challan for driving license or over speeding. In such a situation, even if the traffic police catches you, they will question you and if you answer their questions correctly, then you will not be fined.
In which EVs DL is not required
In India, two-wheelers with engine capacity less than 50cc and top speed not exceeding 50 kmph do not require a driving license to drive. These vehicles also do not require RC and hence you do not have to visit RTO for registration.
