DMRC started trial of dynamic QR code system to make metro travel easier. In this, passengers will be able to travel multiple times with one QR code and save it in the phone. Like smart card, this system will also provide 10% discount in non-peak hours.
New Delhi: To make travel easier in Delhi Metro through digital ticketing, DMRC is soon going to start dynamic QR code system. In this, passengers will be able to travel in Delhi Metro multiple times by purchasing a single QR code. Recently, the trial of this system has been started. For this, AFC gates capable of scanning QR codes have already been installed at all metro stations. Currently, these scanners are being used to scan the QR code printed on the metro’s paper ticket / token. Apart from this, these scanners also read the QR code received on the phone of those who buy tokens through mobile wallet.
Will be able to travel multiple times with one QR code
Under the current system, people can travel in the metro only once through a QR code, but through the dynamic QR code system, people will be able to travel in the metro multiple times with the same QR code. This QR code can be saved in your mobile wallet or photo gallery. While coming and going, people will be able to enter and exit by scanning the QR code from the phone itself. This system will work just like the metro smart card. Just like people now travel in the metro several times after recharging the smart card with a fixed amount till the amount is over, similarly after buying a QR code of a fixed amount, people will be able to travel in the metro several times using it.
Discount will be available in dynamic QR code
DMRC officials have also confirmed that like smart cards, those traveling with dynamic QR code will also get 10% discount on fare on each trip during non-peak hours. This will also free people from the compulsion of carrying smart card and they will be able to use their phone as a smart card. Not only this, if someone’s smart card is lost or stolen, then the amount deposited in it is also lost, but this will not happen in dynamic QR code. If the phone is stolen or lost, then as soon as people download the app on the new phone, their QR code will also become active along with the outstanding amount. Due to this, passengers will not have to suffer financial loss.
You will not have to bear any loss
Apart from this, due to the dynamic system, the design or number of the QR code will also keep changing automatically. In such a situation, if someone steals a photo of your QR code and travels using it, then as soon as the design or number of the QR code changes, the old code will become inactive and passengers will not have to bear any loss. This facility is expected to start for passengers by the end of this month or by next month.
