To facilitate travel and manage the crowds, Indian Railways and IndiGo Airlines have announced special services. Travelers will now have access to more information, making it easier for families to plan their festive journeys without last-minute hassles. These services aim to handle the large influx of travelers visiting Kolkata and other major cities during the festival season.
Puja Special Trains
The Central Railway has introduced 20 additional services of the Hadapsar-Danapur-Hadapsar Puja Special Train, starting from September 29. These services will continue until December 1, 2025. Other routes have also been extended, including trains from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Dhanbad, Raxaul, Saharsa, Varanasi, and Karimnagar. Additional trains will also run between Hisar-Kharak, Bikaner-Shirdi, Pune-Amravati, and Veerangana Laxmibai-Hadapsar.
Indigo Airlines increases capacity
Indigo Airlines is also increasing its capacity during Durga Puja. According to a report in Mint, the airline will operate 23 additional flights to Kolkata from various parts of India. Larger aircraft with higher seating capacity will also be deployed to meet the surge in passenger demand. This is expected to significantly ease travel for those returning home for the festival or traveling to Kolkata.
