Aadhaar Seva Kendra: Now, you won’t need to spend hours waiting in line at an Aadhaar service center to update your date of birth or address in your Aadhaar card. Yes, the UIDAI is working on the rapid launch of the e-Aadhaar app.
e-Aadhaar App: Updating or correcting information on an Aadhaar card often causes considerable inconvenience for people. This usually involves standing in long queues for hours at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra (Aadhaar service center). However, to provide relief to the public, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is working on a new app. The UIDAI is developing a mobile app for Aadhaar card holders. With this app, people will be able to digitally update their information without having to visit an offline center.
Less need to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras!
The purpose of developing this mobile app is to ensure that Indian citizens do not have to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update or change any of their information. Once this app is launched, all types of services will be available to users at their fingertips. According to a report in the Financial Express, a government official stated that this mobile app is expected to be released for all Aadhaar holders by the end of 2025.
What is the e-Aadhaar app?
The new e-Aadhaar mobile app is an application that will allow people to update their basic Aadhaar information, such as name and address, directly from their smartphones. According to media reports, the purpose of launching this app is to provide a digital solution to the public. This will reduce the need for people to visit Aadhaar enrollment centers across the country to update their details. The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) is developing this mobile application using artificial intelligence and face ID technology.
Will the entire system change from November 2025?
This app will provide users with secure and easy digital Aadhaar services. According to the UIDAI’s preparations, from November 2025, people will only need to visit an enrollment center for biometric verification (such as fingerprint and iris scans). The UIDAI is taking this step to simplify the Aadhaar update process, eliminate the need for paperwork, reduce the risk of identity fraud, and expedite the process.
How to update your personal details?
After the new e-Aadhaar app is launched, you will be able to log in and update your name, address, date of birth, and other personal information. This app will not only allow you to update your details, but the government is developing it to automatically collect data from government and verified sources as well. This data will include records from birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, ration cards, and the MGNREGA scheme.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) also launched the ‘Aadhaar Good Governance Portal’ in February 2025. Its purpose is to streamline the process of approving Aadhaar authentication requests. It is expected that both this portal and the new mobile app will make the Aadhaar system even more accessible.
