Jabalpur. Electricity Bill Price Hike: Electricity consumers in Madhya Pradesh have suffered a major setback. The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided to increase electricity rates, making electricity more expensive in the state. After hearing tariff petitions from power companies, the Commission has set new rates for the year 2026-27.
Electricity Bill Price Hike: According to the decision, electricity rates in the state have been increased by an average of 4.80 percent. Power companies had requested a rate increase of up to 10.19 percent, but the Commission has approved a lower increase, providing partial relief to consumers. The implementation of the new rates will impose an additional financial burden on domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers. However, the Commission states that this decision was necessary considering the financial situation and operating costs of power companies.
Following this decision, there are fears that the impact of inflation in the state will increase further, while consumer organizations have expressed displeasure over the rate hike.
