What is SBI’s scheme
The country’s largest government bank, State Bank of India (SBI), will help install solar rooftop systems in 40 lakh homes in the next two years. This policy of SBI will help in increasing renewable energy production in the country. SBI said in an official statement, “To play a leading role in India’s renewable energy transition, SBI’s Solar Rooftop program aims to equip 40 lakh homes with solar energy by FY 2027, thereby advancing India’s Net Zero 2070 goals.
This announcement has been made by the bank on completion of its 70 years. SBI started its business in the country on July 1, 1955. SBI said that in FY25, it has given loans worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore to support agricultural infrastructure, agri-enterprises, farmer producer organizations and cooperatives. On completion of 70 years of SBI, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman congratulated the bank and said that today with more than 23,000 branches, 78,000 customer service points (CSPs) and 64,000 ATMs, SBI is in a very good position and it is truly every Indian’s bank.
The finance minister said the digital transformation undertaken by the bank over the last decade has been extremely beneficial for customers. The bank has played a key role in providing support to 1.5 crore farmers, 1.3 crore self-help groups (SHGs) run by women, 32 lakh street vendors under the PM Swanidhi Yojana, 23 lakh MSMEs and lakhs of artisans under various schemes. The bank has over 15 crore Jan Dhan accounts, 14.65 crore PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, 1.73 crore Atal Pension Yojana and 7 crore PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana beneficiaries. IANS
