Electricity Connection for ₹5: There’s good news for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. They no longer have to pay exorbitant fees for agricultural and domestic electricity connections. A facility to obtain a valid connection for just ₹5 has been introduced, providing significant relief to farmers who have temporary connections during the Rabi season.
What is the scheme?
The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited has provided this relief on the instructions of the state government. The company stated that under the Sahaj Saral Electricity Connection Scheme, farmers and domestic consumers can obtain a valid connection for just ₹5.
How many connections have been issued so far?
According to the Betul Circle Manager, 7,388 new agricultural pump connections and 5,703 domestic connections have been issued in all three divisions of the district. This means a total of 13,091 new electricity connections have been issued.
Strict action against those without valid connections
The company has warned that those using electricity without a valid connection will be prosecuted under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003. This includes heavy fines, court cases, and punishment.

The company has appealed to all farmers and consumers to visit their nearest electricity distribution center to avail this facility. By obtaining a valid connection, they can avoid any legal trouble.
