A target has been set to install 6.55 lakh meters in Kumaon. For this, the contracted company has completed the survey of more than 2.50 lakh houses. At the same time, 1.82 lakh new meters are to be installed in Nainital district and so far the survey has been completed in more than 70 thousand houses. In the first phase, the sub-centers, offices, residences of officers and employees of the Energy Corporation have been connected to smart meters. In the second phase, the work of installing new meters in government offices and buildings is almost complete. With this, the process of changing the meters of domestic connections has started. The Energy Corporation has instructed the contracted company to increase the team to speed up the work.

There were complaints about the employees of the contracted company putting pressure on people regarding the installation of smart meters. After this, the Energy Corporation has given strict instructions that no pressure of any kind will be put on the people. Even in postpaid system, the record will be visible on mobile
Even if the smart meter is initially operated in postpaid system, people will get the facility to monitor electricity consumption through mobile app. Consumers will be able to see the status of electricity usage every half hour, one hour. Along with this, the energy corporation will also be able to keep an eye on the record of electricity consumption of each consumer from the control room.
