EPFO 3.0 rollout soon: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is going to launch its new digital platform EPFO 3.0 soon. The purpose of this platform is to make services easier, transparent and faster for the employees. The government has shortlisted leading IT companies like Infosys, Wipro and TCS for this. They will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the system.
Automated PF withdrawal and integrated ATM facility will also be made available through EPFO’s new digital platform. This platform was to be launched in June 2025, but it has been delayed due to technical testing and other reasons. Despite this, it is expected that this step will bring a big change for about 8 crore employees.
What new things will be available in EPFO 3.0?
1. Online Claims and Corrections
In EPFO 3.0, employees will no longer have to visit offices for minor corrections and settlement of claims. They will be able to make corrections online through OTP and will also be able to track the status of the claim. This will make the entire process transparent and easy.
2. Better Digital Experience
The new system will give employees a more user-friendly digital experience. In this, they will be able to track their PF account balance, status and contribution information in real time. This digital change will make EPFO services more accessible.
3. Direct PF withdrawal from ATM
After the new platform, employees will be able to withdraw their PF funds directly from the ATM. It will be just like a bank account. For this, it will be necessary to activate the Universal Account Number (UAN) and link Aadhaar to the bank account. This facility will prove to be very helpful in sudden financial needs.
4. Instant withdrawal from UPI
In EPFO 3.0, members will also be able to withdraw PF immediately through Unified Payment Interface (UPI). This will give employees direct access to funds in case of emergency without any complicated process.
5. Instant settlement of death claim
EPFO has also recently decided that claim settlement in cases of death will be easier. Guardianship certificate will no longer be required for minors. This will enable families to get immediate financial assistance.
What was the reason for the delay in the launch?
EPFO 3.0 was to be introduced in June 2025, but the launch was postponed due to continuous technical testing and improvements. Currently, EPFO and the concerned ministries are engaged in making this platform more effective and useful. It is expected that it will be made available to the employees soon.
