Now linking Aadhaar with Universal Account Number (UAN) and correcting personal information has become easier than ever. The aim of the new rules of the organization is to make the provident fund services fast, simple and hassle-free. This will not only reduce paperwork but will also ensure timely payment.
Earlier, many approvals were required to link Aadhaar and UAN. But now if the name, date of birth and gender information in your UAN record matches exactly with the Aadhaar card, then you can get Aadhaar seeding done directly through your employer. For this, the employer will have to use the KYC facility on the EPFO portal. This process does not require much documentation.
“Joint Declaration” facility to correct wrong details
Many times there is a difference in UAN and Aadhaar details such as name, date of birth or gender. Earlier in such a situation, one had to go to UIDAI center to correct the information. But now EPFO has started the facility of Joint Declaration (JD). Under this, the employer can correct the wrong details by submitting an online request. That is, now the hassle of visiting offices has ended to a great extent.
Physical form will also be an option
If for some reason the employer is not available or the company is closed, then the members can submit the joint declaration form physically (Physical Submission). After verification, it will be uploaded to the PRO counter and further process will be completed. However, changes in the Aadhaar details already verified will not be allowed.
How to link Aadhaar to UAN
EPFO has also made Aadhaar-UAN linking easy online. For this, members can use the UMANG mobile app.
* Open the UMANG app and login with MPIN or OTP.
* Go to the “Services” tab and select the “EPFO” option.
* Click on “e-KYC Service” here.
* Select the option of “Aadhaar Seeding”.
* Enter your UAN and enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
* Fill in your Aadhaar details and verify with the OTP received on the mobile/email linked to Aadhaar.
* If the verification is successful, your Aadhaar will be linked to UAN.
