Now, the retirement fund body Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows subscribers to update the exit date of former employment online via its website

Are you planning to withdraw your provident fund amount? But before applying for withdrawal, have you updated the employment exit date online? Now, the retirement fund body Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows subscribers to update the exit date of former employment online via its website epfindia.gov.in. Earlier, this date could only be updated by the employer through offline mode.

As per EPFO, subscribers not having an exit date on the EPFO cannot withdraw money from their EPF accounts or transfer the account from their previous employer to a new one.

Since the introduction of the Universal Account Number (UAN) in 2014, all processes related to the EPF have been made simpler. The UAN is a 12-digit unique code linked to the PF accounts of members and helps the members in managing their accounts online.

By using the UAN, an employee can update the exit date of previous employment and transfer the PF amount. Follow these simple steps to update the date of exit details in EPFO records.

Step 1: Visit www.unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2: Log in with UAN and password.

Step 3: Go to Manage and click Mark Exit

Step 4: Choose PF Account Number from Select Employment dropdown menu.

Step 5: Enter Date of Exit and Reason of Exit

Step 6: Click on Request OTP.

Step 7: Enter OTP sent on Aadhaar-linked Mobile number

Step 8: Select Checkbox.

Step 9: Click update and ok. Date of exit updated successfully.
