On August 15, the government launched a FASTag annual pass worth Rs 3,000 for the convenience of passengers, which will provide the facility of 200 trips in a year. However, this pass will be valid only on NHAI highways and expressways, not on state government roads.
FASTag annual pass: To provide relief to road travellers from toll expenses, the central government launched the FASTag annual pass on August 15. This pass is available for Rs 3,000 and through this, up to 200 trips will be available in a year. That is, once the vehicle passes through any NHAI toll plaza, it will be considered as one trip. However, this facility will not be available everywhere.
Where will you get the benefit?
FASTag annual pass will be valid only on highways and expressways operated by NHAI (National Highway Authority). It includes many major national highways, such as –
NH-19 (Delhi-Kolkata route)
NH-3 (Agra-Mumbai)
NH-48 (North-South Corridor)
NH-27 (Porbandar-Shilchar)
NH-16 (Kolkata-Eastern Coast)
NH-65 (Pune-Machilipatnam)
NH-11 (Agra-Bikaner)
NH-44 (Srinagar-Kanyakumari)
Apart from this, this pass will also be valid on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Road, Mumbai-Nashik, Mumbai-Surat, Chennai-Salem, Mumbai-Ratnagiri, Delhi-Meerut and Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway.
Where will the pass not work?
If you are thinking that this pass will work on every road, then clear this misunderstanding. This facility will not be valid on state highways and expressways managed by the state government. For example, on Yamuna Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway, passengers will have to pay toll from the normal FASTag balance.
Passengers got tremendous response
According to NHAI, more than 5 lakh people bought this FASTag annual pass in just four days of its launch. Most passes were bought in Tamil Nadu, followed by Karnataka and Haryana. At the same time, maximum transactions were recorded at toll plazas in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. FASTag annual pass can prove to be beneficial for those who often travel long distances. However, passengers have to keep in mind that this facility will be applicable only on highways and expressways under NHAI.
