Flight Service Close: Flights will not fly during the day from this airport for the next five months, know the reason

Lucknow Airpot Latest News: Daytime flights are being banned from Lucknow Airport. This decision has been taken due to the start of modernization work at the airport. After the daytime flights are stopped in Lucknow, flights from Kanpur Airport are expected to increase.

Flight Service Closed: The airport of Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow will be closed for daytime flights for five months. A plan has been made to keep the airport closed from 10 am to 6 pm every day from March 1 to July 15 for the runway modernization and repair work of Lucknow airport. The process of approval from DGCA is in the final stage. According to the airport spokesperson, approval from DGCA is expected by Monday. After this, a notification will be issued. In view of the plan of the airport administration, many airlines have made changes in their summer schedule. Daytime flights are not visible on the booking platform. It is believed that 35 or more flights may get cancelled.

Many daytime flights are likely to be affected due to the closure of the runway of Lucknow airport. Daytime flights are not visible on the airlines’ website in the month of March. Air India has rescheduled two flights to Delhi to the morning, while the flight to Mumbai has been rescheduled to 8:15 pm. According to sources, more than 20 thousand people have booked advance tickets for travel. If a notice to close the runway is issued, many flights will have to be cancelled. Tickets will have to be reissued.

Passengers’ problems may increase

The Air Travel Agents Association of India, UP-Uttarakhand Chapter says that passengers will face inconvenience due to most flights being shifted to evening and night. At the same time, this situation can also prove to be challenging for international airlines. Due to the runway being closed, the number of flights from Lucknow airport will be reduced. About 12 out of 43 Indigo flights may be cancelled. Kanpur airport will directly benefit from this, from where the number of flights will be increased.

Fares may increase

Due to less number of flights and more number of passengers, air fares may increase. Currently, the fare for Delhi-Lucknow route is between Rs 2300 to Rs 2500, but it may increase to Rs 5000 to Rs 6000. This will affect the pockets of the passengers.

What will change at the airport?

Lucknow airport is being prepared for long-distance international flights. Facilities like taxi way and modern hangar will be added during the repair work. This will provide better facilities to the passengers. According to the Airlines Operators Association, domestic and international flight operators are planning to shift their flights to night. Indigo and Air India have reduced some of their flights, while Oman Airways may also cut its services.
