The Railways has also started running special trains for Holi. Meanwhile, airfares have also become more expensive. Flight prices are skyrocketing ahead of the festival.
Fares on many routes have nearly doubled. There is a clear difference between pre-Holi and post-Holi prices. Whether from Delhi to Patna or Mumbai to Varanasi, if you plan to fly before Holi, you may have to pay a higher fare.
Flying from Delhi to Patna is expensive.
- If you’re planning to fly from Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) to Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport (Patna), ticket prices before Holi could hit your pocket.
- The starting fare for an IndiGo flight on February 28th has reached over ₹12,500.
- The same ticket on February 26th is available for over ₹9,000.
- On the other hand, fares on March 1st start at around ₹10,000, according to IndiGo’s website.

Ticket prices start at over ₹7,000 a day before Holi. Meanwhile, on Holi, some flights are priced below ₹5,500. By March 10, fares on the Delhi-Patna route have dropped to just over ₹4,500.
A similar trend is seen on Air India flights, where rates are around ₹12,000 before Holi and just over ₹5,000 after Holi.

Mumbai to Varanasi also expensive
Ticket prices have also increased before Holi from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai Airport) to Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (Varanasi). Fares on this route are reported to be over ₹12,000.
Booking an IndiGo flight for February 28th is estimated to cost over ₹13,000. However, if you choose a date until March 10th, you can get an economy class booking for around ₹7,000.

Just a day before Holi (March 3rd), the fare for an IndiGo flight from Ghaziabad (Hindon Airport) to Patna (Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport) is around ₹7,000.
Ticket prices from Mumbai to Patna are hovering around ₹10,000. On the other hand, fares on the Mumbai to Varanasi route can be seen to be slightly over ₹8,000.
