Flights cancelled: Dense fog continues to engulf many parts of North and East India, including Delhi-NCR, today. Due to reduced visibility due to the fog, more than 100 flights were cancelled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the government has issued guidelines for airlines, directing them to provide accurate information to passengers about flight status and to ensure their safety in case of delays.

According to the information available on the Delhi Airport website, so far more than 50 departing flights and almost the same number of arriving flights have been cancelled.

It is noteworthy that dense fog is developing in the early morning and early morning hours in many parts of North India and East India, including Delhi. This is severely affecting flights.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a directive on Friday night, stating that airlines must provide passengers with advance and accurate information about flight delays, reschedules, or cancellations. If a delay is announced at the last minute, immediate information will be mandatory.

Additionally, arrangements must be made for refreshments for passengers if the delay exceeds a certain limit. Furthermore, no additional charges will be levied for rescheduling. Hotel accommodations will be required for overnight delays exceeding a certain time.

If a flight is reported after the cancellation deadline, a full refund will be provided, or if a change in route or rescheduling is required, no additional charges will be levied. Passengers who check in on time will not be denied boarding.

Apart from this, instructions have also been given to follow all the rules of the Passenger Charter including rules regarding diversion, refund, compensation and priority check-in.
