Delhi Free Laptop Scheme: Under the Chief Minister’s Digital Education Scheme, meritorious students who perform well in grade 10 will be provided with free laptops. The main objective of this scheme is to ensure that students do not face any difficulties in online studies, e-learning, and preparing for competitive exams.
Free Laptop Scheme: Many state governments across the country are running various schemes to make students’ education easier and modern. In this regard, the Delhi government has also taken an important step towards integrating technology into education. Under the Chief Minister’s Digital Education Scheme, meritorious students who perform well in the 10th grade will be provided with free laptops. The main objective of this scheme is to ensure that students do not face any difficulties in online studies, e-learning, and preparing for competitive exams. In today’s times, education is no longer limited to books; digital media has also become equally important. In such a situation, this scheme can play a vital role in strengthening students’ future.
What will be covered under the scheme?
The Delhi government will provide high-configuration laptops to the top 1,200 students in grade 10 every year. These laptops are estimated to cost over ₹60,000. The government has allocated a budget of approximately ₹7.5 crore for this. These laptops will prove useful for online classes, reading e-books, preparing projects, coding, research, and other educational activities. The scheme also provides equal opportunities to girls, promoting equality in education.
Who can benefit from this scheme?
Both boys and girls will benefit from this scheme, but certain conditions are met.
- First, the student must be a permanent resident of Delhi.
- They must have passed the 10th grade exam from the CBSE board and secured a place in the top 1,200 in the merit list.
- The student must have studied in a regular school and enrolled in grade 11.
- Open school or private candidates will not be eligible for this scheme.
How will the selection be done?
The best part of this scheme is that students do not need to apply separately. After the 10th grade results are declared, the top 1,200 students will be selected directly based on the CBSE merit list. Laptops will then be distributed through a special program. If needed, necessary documents can be obtained through the school.
Overall, this scheme by the Delhi government is a commendable initiative towards digitally empowering students.
