A free LPG cylinder scheme has been launched for 15.48 lakh poor families in Delhi on the occasion of Holi and Diwali. President Draupadi Murmu formally launched the scheme. A subsidy of Rs. 853 has been transferred to the accounts of 15.48 lakh people on the occasion of Holi. The state’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, has transferred Rs. 129 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme was launched after receiving cabinet approval.
The government will not send free cylinders to homes, but will transfer the amount of Rs. 853 directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This will allow people to refill their cylinders as needed. A budget of approximately Rs. 242 crore has been set aside for this scheme. It is estimated that approximately 17.5 lakh ration cardholder families in the capital will benefit from this scheme. Households with pipeline gas connections will also receive an honorarium of Rs. 853.
Who in Delhi will not benefit?
The government’s free cylinder scheme for Holi will only benefit families with valid ration cards in Delhi. In Uttar Pradesh, only families covered by the Ujjwala Yojana will receive free refills. Taxpayers, government employees, and retired government employees will be excluded from the scheme. Furthermore, linking your bank account to Aadhaar is mandatory to avail the scheme.
Whose accounts received Rs 853?
On Holi, 15.48 lakh people in Delhi received Rs 853, the price of a cylinder, in their accounts. This money was sent to those who have ration cards. If your ration card is still valid, the money will have been credited to your account.
These schemes were launched in Delhi
A special event, “Empowered Women, Prosperous Delhi,” was held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Several schemes were launched during the event. The “Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana,” an extension of the Ladli Yojana, was launched in Delhi. The Saheli Pink Smart Card was also launched. Funds were also transferred under the “Meri Punji Mera Adhikar” scheme.

Pink Card for Women
Starting today, the Delhi government will issue PINK CARDs to women to enable them to travel free on DTC buses.
Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana also launched
The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana was also launched today. Under this scheme, the government will provide a total of one lakh rupees to daughters of Delhi belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category at various times, from birth to graduation. The Ladli Yojana will close on March 31, 2026. The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana will begin on April 1, 2026.
