Ujjwala Yojana: This Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh government has given the state’s poor women a major gift. The announcement of free LPG cylinders to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has brought relief to the kitchens of millions of families.
The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has given a significant gift to poor families this Diwali. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PM-Ujjwala Yojana), approximately 18.5 million women beneficiaries in the state will receive a free LPG cylinder refill. This decision was made at a cabinet meeting on Friday, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally approved it. According to the government, the scheme aims to alleviate the culinary worries of poor and needy families during the festive season, ensuring a vibrant Diwali celebration in their homes.
Under the scheme, eligible women will receive a free cylinder between October and December 2025, during Diwali. Additionally, another free refill will be provided during Holi, from January to March 2026. A total of ₹1,385.34 crore will be spent on the scheme throughout the financial year, ensuring that every eligible family benefits.
It is important to note that only those women who have registered for the Ujjwala Yojana and whose names are listed as BPL families will benefit from this scheme. It’s also important to note that to avail of the free cylinder, all required documents must be updated and Aadhaar authentication (KYC) must be complete. The government has set the deadline for Aadhaar authentication for beneficiaries as December 31, 2025. If this process is not completed by the stipulated time, you may miss out on the free cylinder.
The state government claims that this decision will provide significant relief to millions of poor families on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and strengthen women’s self-reliance. The Ujjwala Yojana will not only simplify food and drinking arrangements for families in the state, but clean fuel will also improve their health and social status.
