Golden Temple Viral Video: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the viral video of a young man washing his hands and feet in the Golden Temple’s Amrit Sarovar, calling it a violation of the Sikh code of conduct. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami announced an investigation and appealed to visitors to respect the temple’s ‘maryada’ (rules).

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that all religions should be respected and the acts shown in the Darbar Sahib video should be avoided, as they hurt the sentiments and beliefs of other religious communities.

He said, “We should respect all religions. The Darbar Sahib video… you should not hurt the sentiments of other religions in this way.”

The young man responded

Responding to the controversy, the young man stated that he made the mistake unknowingly and admitted his mistake, according to United News of India.

In his statement, the young man stated that he had visited the Golden Temple with devotion, but was unaware of the full religious decorum. He expressed deep regret and apologized to the Sikh community. He also stated that he would personally visit Sri Harmandir Sahib to apologize.

Meanwhile, as the controversy escalated, SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan confirmed that a committee had ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.

He stated that the SGPC would investigate whether the viral video was genuine or fabricated or altered using artificial intelligence. He also expressed concern about the presence and role of the servitors on duty at the time of the incident.
