Airport in Bihar: Within the next one year, there is going to be a big revolution in the aviation sector of Bihar. By March next year, air services are going to start in about a dozen airports of Bihar. While air services are going to start from Purnia Airport this year, by March next year, the movement of aircraft will start from 8 small cities of Bihar. Spirit Air has announced to start air services from many small cities of the state with the cooperation of the Government of India’s ‘Udaan’ scheme and the Government of Bihar. According to the company, flight services will start by March 2026. At present, work is going on at a fast pace at the airport.
Flights will start from these cities in the first phase
In the first phase, aviation company Spirit Air will start air services from eight cities of Bihar, which include Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Valmikinagar and Bihta. These cities will be connected to major metros of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Apart from this, direct flight service will also be started for Jamshedpur and Bokaro. In the next phase, Spirit Air will also start international connectivity. Under this, direct air services will be started from Bihar to many cities of Nepal. This will include flights from Muzaffarpur to Kathmandu and Janakpur, Birpur to Rajbiraj and Viratnagar, Valmikinagar to Kathmandu and Bhairahawa, and Bihta to Kathmandu.
Two special aircraft will fly
Spirit Air has two special types of aircraft for the air services to be started under the Udan scheme in Bihar. The first aircraft is Islander BN2T-48 which can take off from even a short runway. It can be used to carry passengers, cargo and for medical emergencies. The second aircraft is King Air 250 which is a high performance aircraft that flies fast. It has a pressurized cabin and can be used for many types of flights. Spirit Air says that this scheme is not just a travel facility, but it will also give economic strength to the rural areas of Bihar, local products will get new markets and people will also get new employment opportunities.
