UP News: Yogi government has given the gift of increase in the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to 28 lakh employees and pensioners of the state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gifted 28 lakh employees and pensioners of the state with an increase in the rates of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) on the occasion of the festival of lights, Diwali. According to this decision taken on Thursday, all eligible 16.35 lakh employees and 11.52 lakh pensioners and family pensioners in the state will now receive the benefit of dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 58 percent, instead of 55 percent, from July 1, 2025.
Announcing the increase, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state government is fully committed to the interests of its employees and pensioners. Providing them relief from the effects of inflation and improving their standard of living is our top priority.

He said that this decision is a symbol of compassion and respect for the millions of employees and pensioners of the state. He expressed confidence that this Diwali gift will bring new energy, happiness, and prosperity to their lives.
All employees will benefit from this decision, including employees of aided educational and technical educational institutions, regular and full-time employees of urban local bodies, in-charge employees and employees on UGC pay scale.
Dearness Allowance to be Paid in Cash
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed that the increased dearness allowance and dearness relief payments be made in cash from October 2025. This decision, taken in the public interest, will result in an additional expenditure burden of ₹1,960 crore for the state government by March 2026.
It should be noted that if dearness allowance and dearness relief payments are made in cash from October 2025, the expenditure burden in November 2025 will be ₹161 crore and ₹84 crore, respectively. The payment of dearness allowance and dearness relief arrears from July to September 2025 will result in an additional cash expenditure of ₹298 crore and ₹252 crore, respectively, in November 2025.
Thus, the total additional cash expenditure in November 2025 will be ₹795 crore. ₹185 crore will be deposited in the GPF of the personnel covered under OPS, after which there will be an additional expenditure of ₹245 crore every month from December, 2025.
