To ensure equal rights for girls in society and facilitate their education, the Rajasthan government is running a scheme that provides financial assistance from their birth. This scheme, known as the Rajshree Scheme, has been running in Rajasthan for several years. The scheme was launched by the state government on June 1, 2016.
The government had several reasons for launching the Rajshree Scheme. The main reasons for creating this scheme are to reduce the inequality between boys and girls, prevent fetal abortifacients, and support them in completing their education.
How and when to avail the scheme benefits
The first installment of ₹2,500 is given upon the birth of a girl child. However, the condition is that the child must be born in a government or registered private healthcare facility. When the girl turns one year old, financial assistance of ₹2,500 will be provided after all vaccinations are completed. The third installment, amounting to approximately ₹4,000, will be given when the girl enters the first grade of a government school. As soon as the girl enters the fourth grade, she will receive an installment of 5,000 rupees. An 11,000 rupee installment will be given when she enters the tenth grade. The largest installment will be given when the girl successfully completes her 12th grade. This amount is approximately 25,000 rupees.
How can you avail the benefits?
However, the government has made the application process very simple. You can easily apply through the Child Development Department or the state’s online portal.
- You can avail the benefits only if you meet these conditions.
- Only girls born after the scheme’s implementation can avail the benefits.
- The installment benefit will be available only if the child is born in a government or registered medical institution.
- Only those who have always lived in Rajasthan or are natives of the state will be eligible for the installment benefit.

- A Bhamashah or Aadhaar card is required.
- A birth certificate for the girl child is mandatory.
- A maternal and child health card is important.
- A school admission certificate is required for all subsequent installments.
