Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway: The Delhi-Dehradun greenfield highway is about to open, and the journey from Meerut to Dehradun will soon be possible in just 2.5 to 3 hours, without any traffic jams. Let’s find out the route this highway will follow.
Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway: Good news for those traveling from Meerut to Dehradun! The Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway is about to open, making the journey from Meerut to Dehradun possible in just 2.5 to 3 hours. This highway passes through Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur, and is essentially an expressway.
This means there will be no traffic jams, no traffic lights, and no congested areas along the route. It will be the fastest and easiest way to travel from Meerut to Dehradun. Construction of this highway is expected to be completed within the next three months.
New Greenfield Highway Will Reduce Travel Time
Even though this new greenfield highway doesn’t pass directly through Meerut city, residents of Meerut will benefit greatly from it. This will be an access-controlled highway, meaning vehicles will be able to travel at high speeds. Currently, there are two routes from Meerut to Dehradun. The first route goes via the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar highway, taking approximately three and a half to four hours and covering a distance of around 200 kilometers. The second route goes through Muzaffarnagar, Chhutmalpur, Ganeshpur, and the Rajaji National Park, also taking about three and a half hours and covering a distance of 180 kilometers. However, both of these routes are old and prone to traffic jams and have many winding sections, resulting in longer travel times. The new greenfield highway will eliminate these problems.
The expressway was designed in a special way.
This highway starts near the Akshardham Temple in Geeta Colony, Delhi, and passes through Loni, Mandola, Baghpat, Khekhra, Tatri, Bijrauli, Karonda Mahajan in Muzaffarnagar, Fugana and Bhajoo in Shamli, and Deoband, Bihari Garh, and Ganeshpur in Saharanpur, finally reaching Asharodi in Dehradun. A key feature is its expressway-like design, free from traffic lights, intersections, or other road obstructions. Furthermore, a 12-kilometer elevated section has been built through the Rajaji National Park, allowing vehicles to travel above the forest, thus avoiding the challenges of navigating hilly terrain.
The 212-kilometer journey will take just 2.5 hours.
There are several options for accessing this highway from Meerut. From Paratapur in Meerut, one can take the Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar highway to the Shamli-Karnal highway, then access the greenfield highway at the Karonda Mahajan interchange. This interchange is 62 kilometers from Paratapur, and Dehradun is 150 kilometers from there. The total distance of 212 kilometers can be covered in 2.5 hours.
Another option is to access the highway at the interchange near Tatri, which is 45 kilometers from Paratapur. This route will be 215 kilometers, but the travel time will still be 2.5 hours. A third route connects to the highway near Deoband, passing through Ganeshpur to reach Dehradun. This route is 160 kilometers and takes less than three hours. Vehicles can travel at 100 km/h on this highway without any interruptions, making travel smooth and fast.
