Check which item has become cheaper in this way
To see how much you will save on which item, first you have to add your favorite item to the cart. After this, the base price, price at the time of VAT and the price after Next-Gen GST will be visible in the cart. In this way you will be able to know how much you are going to save on which item. Suppose you have added milk to the cart, then the price of Rs 60 per liter of milk will be shown as Rs 63.6 with VAT and Rs 60 under Next-Gen GST.
Let us tell you that GST reforms will lead to direct savings on everyday necessities and packaged food items. Along with this, products like ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk, pre-packaged and labeled chhena or paneer and all Indian breads will now be taxed at zero, while household items like soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, tableware and bicycle will be taxed at 5 percent GST.
There will be only 2 slabs in GST
The GST Council has now approved only 2 slabs. Which includes 5% and 18% slab. Most of the goods have been kept in the 5% slab. Apart from this, zero tax will be levied on some items and 40% tax on some. All these reforms will come into effect from September 22. This step has been taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the implementation of the next gen GST reform during Diwali this year in his Independence Day speech. GST reform will provide direct savings to families by reducing taxes on everyday needs and packaged food products.
