Haryana Colleges have decided to include NCC as an elective subject. This step is in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and has been take in response to the proposal from the Directorate General, NCC.
Haryana Colleges will now include National Cadet Corps, NCC as General Elective Credit Course for the graduation programmes. The decision has been taken in response to the proposal from the Directorate General, National Cadet Corps, New Delhi. This step is in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
As per the NEP 2020, students can choose subjects as per their choice rather than being confined by only those being offered by the institutes. In this regard, UGC has already issued an order to all the Vice Chancellor of all universities to include NCC as an elective subject.
Haryana Colleges: NCC credit system
The NCC syllabus for Haryana Colleges is being designed as per the credit based system of National Education Policy 2020. The course is spread out through six semesters with 24 credit points. Students have to secure four credits in first two semesters and 10 credits for third fourth and fifth sixth semesters respectively.
An official from NCC conveyed that the proposed implementation of NCC as an elective subject has gained positive response from the Haryana state government. This will surely help the youth of the nation to contribute immensely towards the nation building.
On successful completion of NCC as an elective subject, students will be awarded with credit points which will enable them to qualify their degrees. As of now, Haryana Colleges have decided to include NCC as an elective subject. Other states may think of this initiative sooner.
