Delhi Chunav: Haryana government has announced a paid holiday on 5 February 2025 due to Delhi Assembly elections. The purpose of this decision is to encourage more and more voters to vote. The government said in its official statement that this holiday has been implemented under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act 1951. This provision will apply to those employees who are registered voters of the National Capital Territory (NCT) Delhi, so that they can exercise their franchise. The Haryana government clarified that employees working in factories, shops and private offices can also take this paid holiday for voting.

Haryana government announced holiday

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Electoral Officer T Misao has written a letter to the Election Commission demanding paid holiday for all employees on the day of polling. In this letter, a notice issued by the Labor Commissioner of Delhi Government, Labor Department of Haryana Government and Additional Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has been attached. In which the registered voters of Delhi have been allowed to take leave. Earlier on January 17, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions had declared a public holiday for the Delhi Assembly elections and by-elections to two assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Voting for 70 assembly seats in Delhi will be held on February 5 and the election results will be declared on February 8, 2025.

All government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed in Delhi

The Delhi government has declared a public holiday on the day of elections. All government offices will remain closed on 5 February. So that, government employees can vote. Apart from this, all schools and colleges will remain closed in Delhi. Delhi schools are used for voting. Due to this, many schools in Delhi are closed a day before. It is possible that many schools will remain closed on 4 and 5 February. Banks will also remain closed on 5 February.

All markets in Delhi will remain closed

Due to elections in Delhi, all markets and shops in the capital will remain closed. Kamla Nagar, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar Market, Sarojini Nagar Market, Chandni Chowk etc. all these markets will remain closed.
