HDFC Bank UPI Downtime Alert: If you’re an HDFC Bank customer, there’s big news for you. In December, the country’s largest private bank, HDFC Bank, will shut down online services, including its UPI service, for two days. This means no transactions will be possible.
Services will be down on these two dates
HDFC Bank has announced that UPI services will be completely down in December 2025 due to two system maintenance periods. This technical work is scheduled for four hours each on December 13th and 21st, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM, for system upgrades and improved service quality.
Customers will not be able to make payments using these methods.
The bank has stated that during this maintenance period, no UPI payments will be possible from HDFC Bank accounts. Customers will not be able to make UPI transactions from their savings or current accounts, UPI payments from HDFC Bank RuPay credit cards, or transfers through mobile banking or third-party apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm. Merchants whose UPI settlements are linked to HDFC Bank accounts will also experience temporary disruption.
Customers will have these options for payments.
The bank has urged customers to use their PayZapp wallet during these hours, which will continue to function normally during the maintenance period. The bank has assured that there will be no disruption to PayZapp services.
To start using the PayZapp wallet, customers can download it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After registering with a mobile number and OTP verification, users will need to complete one of two types of KYC: bank-based Full KYC (for HDFC customers) or basic PAN-based KYC (for non-HDFC customers).
PayZapp’s transaction limits depend on the KYC type. With PAN-based KYC, the monthly and annual limits range from ₹10,000 to ₹1,20,000, while with bank-based KYC, this limit goes up to 10 lakh per year. Customers can also set spending limits as per their convenience.
Cashpoints earned in PayZapp can be redeemed directly into the wallet by using the ‘Cashpoints & Offers’ section. HDFC Bank has advised customers to settle all necessary payments before the scheduled maintenance hours to avoid inconvenience.
