In this era of digital payments, millions of HDFC Bank customers will need to be vigilant on two important dates. The bank has announced two scheduled maintenance periods in December 2025 to further strengthen the system. UPI services will be down for four hours on December 13th and 21st, from 2:30 am to 6:30 am. This step is aimed at making the banking experience fast, secure, and efficient, but customers should plan ahead so that daily transactions are not affected.

Complete List of Affected Services

All UPI operations linked to HDFC accounts will be completely affected during the maintenance window. UPI payments from savings and current accounts, UPI transactions on RuPay credit cards, payments through the bank’s mobile banking app, and third-party apps (such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm) where HDFC is the payment service provider will all be halted. Merchants will also face challenges, as their UPI settlements and collections linked to HDFC accounts will be impacted. However, net banking and other core banking services will continue to function as usual. However, bill payments, recharges, or small purchases may be affected during the busy morning hours.

PayZapp Wallet: The Easy Option to Avoid the Hassle

To ease customer inconvenience, HDFC has promoted its PayZapp wallet app, which will work seamlessly during maintenance. Download on Android/iOS, register with mobile number and verify OTP. KYC is available in two ways: PAN based (limit: ₹10,000 per transaction, ₹1.2 lakh annually) or bank based (₹2 lakh per transaction, ₹10 lakh annual spending). Existing HDFC cardholders can complete full KYC by entering the last 4 digits. Redeem CashPoints in the app, set personal spending limits (daily/monthly/transaction) and load the wallet with credit/debit cards. This will not only come in handy during UPI downtimes but will also simplify everyday payments with cashback.

To avoid such downtime, complete any necessary payments 24 hours before the maintenance. Other banks should use UPI, cash, or wallets. Major banks like HDFC periodically roll out upgrades that improve service quality in the long run. Customers should check app notifications and the bank’s official website for the latest updates.
