HDFC to increase 25,000 friends by March; know how to apply

HDFC Bank, the largest private sector bank, is planning to increase the number of its bank friends to 25,000 by the end of this financial year, in an effort to increase accessibility in rural areas. A top bank official gave this information on Friday. Currently, the number of Bank Mitras (Banking Correspondent) is 11,000.



“We are always striving to provide the best banking facilities to all customers, even those living in remote areas of the country,” Smita Bhagat, HDFC Bank’s Country Head of Government Institutional Business and Startups, told PTI. As part of our efforts, we will increase the number of bank friends from 11,000 to 25,000 by the end of this financial year.

He said that all banking facilities like opening of accounts, term deposits, payment products and loans will be available to the customer through bank friends. He said that the bank is also looking at using the government’s Common Service Centers (CSCs) to expand its Bank Mitra network. Tell that many more banks are making bank friends to take their business from village to village. Almost everything remains common. For example, only those people who have computers or laptops can apply to become bank friends. Internet facility, printer, scanner. Apart from all this, there should be an office in at least 100 square feet.



Documents to become a bank friend

Copy of PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport or voter ID for identity card.
10th class marksheet and character certificate for qualification.
Copy of electricity bill, telephone bill, ration card, Aadhaar card or passport for business address.
Passport size photograph and copy of bank passbook or cancellation check
