Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rain alert in Delhi-NCR even today, schools closed, check updates

Heavy Rain Alert: Rain has disrupted life in Delhi-NCR for the last 2-3 days. A heavy rain alert has been issued today i.e. on September 3 as well. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there may be heavy rain in the National Capital Region on September 3. Along with this, the Lucknow Meteorological Center has issued a heavy rain warning for many areas including Noida and Ghaziabad.

After heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday, many areas of Delhi-NCR were flooded and heavy traffic jams were also seen. Due to waterlogging in Sector 62, 18 of Noida and some parts of Greater Noida, the movement of vehicles on the roads had stopped, increasing the difficulties of the people.

Yamuna water level crosses the danger mark

Along with the rain, the water level of the Yamuna river is also rising. At 7 am on Wednesday, the water level of the Yamuna reached 206.8 meters, which is just 1.8 meters less than the record level of 208.66 meters set on July 13, 2023. This water level in the Yamuna has increased due to the water released from Hathinikund Barrage in Haryana, from where 1.76 lakh cusecs, 93,260 cusecs from Wazirabad and 1.15 lakh cusecs from Okhla have been released. In view of the increasing danger, the authorities have closed the Old Railway Bridge (ORB) and people living in low-lying areas are being sent to safer places. Also, idol immersion has also been banned.

Holiday declared in schools

In view of the heavy rain warning, all schools in Noida and Ghaziabad have been instructed to remain closed on September 3. District officials have asked parents to keep an eye on local administration and school announcements for information related to school reopening.
