Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rain warning till January 11, 5 cyclonic circulations activated simultaneously

Heavy Rain Alert: Five cyclonic circulations and western disturbances are active in the country, due to which a warning of extremely heavy rain has been issued for the next five days.

Heavy Rain Alert: The country is witnessing a significant change in the weather due to the simultaneous activation of several weather systems. Five cyclonic circulations have become active simultaneously, prompting a warning of heavy rain for five days. Now, learn in detail about the locations of these cyclonic circulations and the locations where these systems are subject to severe heavy rainfall alerts.

Widespread weather activity will be observed until January 11th. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience light rain and snowfall (Snowfall Alert) on January 6th. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe are expected to experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated places from January 9th to 11th. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu on January 9th and 10th, and isolated heavy rainfall on January 11th. Kerala and Mahe are also expected to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places on January 10th.

An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the central parts of the Equatorial Indian Ocean and the southern Bay of Bengal. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation in the form of a Western Disturbance is present at mid-tropospheric levels over northern Pakistan and adjoining areas. A cyclonic circulation is also present at lower tropospheric levels over the east-central Arabian Sea and the adjoining Lakshadweep region. Furthermore, a lower-level cyclonic circulation is active over the Comorin region and adjoining areas and Tripura and adjoining areas.

Dense to very dense fog alert has been issued for many parts of North India and East India. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh will experience dense to very dense fog in the morning from 7th to 9th January and fog will persist in some areas thereafter. Uttar Pradesh will experience dense fog in the morning and night on 7th and 8th January. Fog conditions are also likely to persist for different days in East and West Rajasthan, Delhi (Delhi NCR Weather Update), Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Cold day and cold wave warnings have been issued in several states. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and some areas of Chhattisgarh are likely to experience severe cold. There is also a warning of frost in some areas of Uttarakhand on January 6th and 7th.

Minimum temperatures are expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Central India will see no significant change in the first 24 hours, and temperatures may gradually increase thereafter. Eastern India, Maharashtra, and Gujarat will also see no significant change in temperatures over the next few days.

A special warning has been issued for fishermen. Between January 6th and 11th, fishermen are advised against fishing in many parts of the Bay of Bengal, the Sri Lankan coast, the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts, and the Arabian Sea off the Somalia coast and surrounding waters.
