School Holidays 2025: Due to the increasing cold, fog, and cold wave, school timings have been changed in many states across the country. Meanwhile, announcements of winter vacations have also begun. So far, the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration have announced winter vacations. Announcements are expected in other states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, in the coming days. Meanwhile, schools across the country will remain closed in December due to Sundays and Christmas, allowing students to benefit from ample holidays. The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to close all government schools and educational institutions on December 27th, the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Winter vacation announced in Jammu and Rajasthan
- In Rajasthan, winter vacation will run from December 25, 2025, to January 5, 2026. This holiday will apply to all government and private schools. The holiday dates have been determined according to the Shivira Panchang 2025-26. Winter vacations are also expected to be announced soon in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. School holidays in these states typically begin in the last week of December or early January.
- According to the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s schedule, pre-primary classes began on November 26, 2025, and classes 1 through 8 began on December 1. The holidays will now continue until February 28, 2026, and schools will reopen on March 1. School holidays for classes 9 through 12 will begin on December 11, 2025, and will continue until February 22, 2026. In the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, schools will be closed from December 8 through 14.
- Winter vacation in Madhya Pradesh will run from December 31 to January 4. According to the School Education Department, government schools will have a Christmas holiday on December 25. Regular classes will resume after that, and then winter vacation will begin.
