It is necessary to have a mobile number linked with your Aadhaar in the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) database. Many reasons account for this. One of them is that on this registered mobile number you get a one-time password (OTP) which is used for verification. Many times, people forget the mobile number given in Aadhaar. Most of the time this happens when you change multiple mobiles. But, you can easily find out which mobile number you have given in your Aadhaar.

If your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar, then you can easily verify your Income Tax Return (ITR) through Aadhaar based OTP. In case of Aadhaar based KYC, it is necessary to have your mobile number registered. Only then the process of KYC will be completed through Aadhaar based OTP.

Here we are telling you how you can find out whether your mobile number is registered in UIDAI database.

Step 1: First go to www.uidai.gov.in .

Step 2: In the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab, select ‘Verify Email / Mobile Number’.

Step 3: A new tab will open on your system. Enter your Aadhaar number here and either enter the mobile number or email id, from which you also want to verify.

Step 4: Enter captcha code and click on ‘Send OTP’.

If the mobile number entered matches UIDAI’s record, the message will come on the screen that your recorded mobile is already verified in its record. If this is not done, that is, the mobile number entered does not match the UIDAI records, then it will be told that the mobile number entered does not match with the record.

How to update the mobile number

If the mobile number entered does not match the UIDAI records, then you will have to go to the nearest Aadhaar center to update it. To update your mobile number in the Aadhaar center, you will have to pay 50 rupees. Remember that updation of mobile number does not happen online
