Through this facility, customers of the bank will be able to make payment by tapping their smartphone at the merchant outlet. With this service, more than 15 million debit and credit card customers of the bank will be facilitated as they will no longer need to carry a card for payment at retail stores. This facility works on Near Field Communications (NFC) technology. This unique payment service allows customers to create a digital version of their ICICI Bank debit and credit cards.

Customers can avail this service by following the simple steps given below:

1. One Time Activation

  • The customer needs to login to the iMobile Pay app and click on the ‘Tap to Pay’ icon on the login page or ‘Shop’ section.
  • Thereafter, the customer has to select the registered debit and credit cards to create the digital version and then click on ‘I Agree’ to accept the terms and conditions.
  • Customers can create virtual cards for each of their ICICI Bank Visa credit and debit cards.

2. Paying

  • Log in to the iMobile Pay app and click on ‘Tap to Pay’ in the login page or ‘Shop’ section
  • Select a virtual Visa card to make a payment and wave or tap the phone near the NFC enabled POS device
  • A message ‘Payment Successfully’ appears on the phone to confirm the transaction.

Sudipta Roy, Head – Unsecured Assets, ICICI Bank said, “At ICICI Bank, we focus on technological innovation to provide better and convenient solutions to our customers. We first launched the ‘Tap to Pay’ feature five years ago by digitizing cards and offering secure contactless payments through our digital wallet app, Pockets. We have now expanded this facility through our mobile app, iMobile Pay. This contactless mobile payment solution offers the bank’s customers cashless payments using just their smartphone, eliminating the need to carry cash or debit and credit cards.
