ICICI Bank Credit Card Rules Change: With the advent of the new year, many financial rules have changed. Furthermore, some changes are expected in the coming days. In this regard, ICICI Bank, the country’s second-largest private bank, has announced changes to its credit card rules. These changes will come into effect on January 15, 2026. These changes include rules related to reward points, transaction fees, and other features. Let’s explore them in detail.
New Rules for Entertainment Offers
ICICI Bank has set spending limits for availing offers on BookMyShow. To avail these offers, you must have spent at least ₹25,000 in the previous quarter.
Changed Rules for Emerald Metal Card and Add-on Cards
The bank has also made changes to the ICICI Bank Emeralde Metal Credit Card. Cardholders will now earn 6 reward points for every ₹200 spent on retail transactions. However, no reward points will be earned on expenses such as government services, fuel, property management, rent, tax payments, and third-party wallet loads. Furthermore, if you plan to purchase an add-on card for a family member, you will be required to pay a one-time fee of ₹3,500 for new add-on cards issued after January 15, 2026.
Gaming and wallet transactions have become more expensive
Private banks have also increased the cost of online gaming and wallet transactions. They will now charge an additional 2% fee on transactions made on gaming platforms like Dream11, Rummy Culture, and MPL. Additionally, if you load ₹5,000 or more into third-party wallets like Amazon Pay or Paytm, you will incur a 1% transaction fee. Furthermore, if you pay your credit card bill in cash at a bank branch, you will now be charged ₹150 per transaction instead of ₹100.
Changes in DCC Rules
In addition, ICICI Bank has revised the dynamic currency conversion fee for travel abroad or shopping on international websites. The bank has set different rates for different cards. The fee will be 1.49% for the Times Black card, while most Emerald series cards will be charged at 2%. For MakeMyTrip travel cardholders, the fee is the lowest at 0.99%, while MakeMyTrip Signature and Platinum cardholders will have to pay the highest fee of 3.50%. The rate on the Amaze Pay ICICI card is set at 1.99%.
