The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rains across the country from 11 to 16 September 2025. Know in which districts of which states the effect of heavy rains, thunder and winds will be seen.
IMD Rainfall Alert: The monsoon season in India is not over yet. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the weather may deteriorate in many parts of the country between September 11 and 16. During this time, there will be a danger of not only heavy rains but also thunderstorms and strong winds. Its effect will be seen more especially in Northeast, East and Central India.
The Indian Meteorological Department has shared some information regarding the weather in the coming days in different parts of the country. According to the IMD, heavy rains are expected in the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh on September 11. There is a possibility of continuous heavy rains in Chhattisgarh from September 11 to 14. Heavy rain alert has been issued in Bihar from September 11 to 14 and in Jharkhand on September 11. Apart from Bihar’s capital Patna, light to moderate rains have also been forecast in Gopalganj, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, East Champaran, Saran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali and Bhagalpur today. Apart from this, a low pressure area is formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, many districts of Bihar will remain cloudy during the next 48 to 72 hours and intermittent rain may be seen. According to weather experts, the water level of local rivers in these states may increase and waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas.
Weather condition from Odisha to Assam
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at many places and very heavy rain at some places in Odisha on September 11 and 12. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 13. Talking about the northeastern states, light to moderate rain and heavy rain activities will continue in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from September 11 to 16. The risk of problems like landslides and road blockages may increase here.
Alertness is necessary regarding the weather in North India
There is also a possibility of rain in the states located in North India. In Uttar Pradesh, there are chances of rain in the eastern parts on September 11, 12, 15 and 16 and in the western parts on September 12. The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in many cities of UP on September 11 and 12. On September 11, heavy rain warning has been issued in Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich and Lakhimpur Kheri districts of eastern UP. On the other hand, heavy rain warning has been issued in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on September 13 and 14. The risk of cloudburst and landslides is highest in hilly areas, so travelers will need to be extra cautious.
Situation in West and South India
The situation in West and South India is also not good in terms of weather. Talking about Maharashtra and Goa, there are chances of heavy rainfall in Konkan, Goa, Marathwada and Central Maharashtra between 12th and 16th September. In many districts of Maharashtra, the rain is going to be intense for the next three days. Heavy rainfall has been predicted from Satara to Mumbai and Konkan region. During this time, people have been advised to be alert and take necessary precautions. The scope of rain will increase on 12th September and apart from this, a special warning has been issued for Pune, Nagar and the entire Vidarbha region. In the states of South India like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, the series of rains will continue with thunder and strong winds. During this time, incidents of lightning and thunderstorms can also occur.
