IMD Rainfall Alert: Light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas today. Meanwhile, a warning has been issued for heavy rain and hailstorms in Uttar Pradesh tomorrow.
IMD Rainfall Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for major changes in many parts of the country. Due to the influence of two active western disturbances, thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds are expected in approximately 22 states, including North India, Northeast, and Central India.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in northwest India may increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days, but will gradually decrease thereafter.
Rain and Snowfall in Himalayan Regions
According to the IMD, light to moderate rain and snowfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand until March 27. Intermittent rainfall is expected in the northwestern plains until March 31.
Thunderstorm and Rain Warning in North India
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. During this period, strong winds of 30 to 50 kmph are likely, disrupting normal life.
Heavy Rain in Northeast and East India
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for widespread rainfall, lightning, and strong winds in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between March 25 and 29. Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Impacts in Central and South India
Thunderstorms and light rain are expected in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and the Vidarbha region. Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala in South India for the next five days. Meanwhile, coastal Maharashtra and Kerala are expected to experience hot and humid weather from March 25th to 27th.
Changing Weather in Delhi-NCR
The rising temperatures in Delhi-NCR are now set to ease. Light rain and thunderstorms are expected by the afternoon or evening of March 26th. Winds in the capital may reach 40 kmph, while gusts may reach 70 kmph on March 29th and 30th. This rain is expected to continue until March 30th.

Heavy rain and hailstorms are expected in Uttar Pradesh on March 27th. Following this, heavy rain and winds of up to 30–50 km per hour are expected in many districts from March 29 to 31.

A warning for thunderstorms, rain, and hail has been issued in Bihar for March 27. Thunderstorms and rain are also possible on March 28. Farmers have been advised to harvest and store their harvested crops in a safe place and use hail nets to protect them from hail.
